I went to school for physics and astronomy (BA Astrophysics: Columbia University; MS Physics: University of CA at San Diego.) Through Columbia, at Kitt Peak National Observatory (left photo) I observe cataclysmic variable stars (middle.) These are two stars orbiting each other as one gradually devours the other. I also teach astronomy to art majors at the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art and to undergraduates at Lehman College (City University of New York.)
Now, thanks to a recent medical wake-up call (right), I'm returning to graduate school to study methods of increasing the general public's appreciation for and understanding of science, particularly as it may apply to medical patients.
